Dustin Thanks again for an incredible bison hunt, providing me an opportunity to take a bison along with this archery harvested wolf - for me a trophy of a lifetime. Without your help it never would have happened. You whispered, '45 yards' as I drew the bow, taking out all my indecision. Way to make it happen! Also your determination to fill your hunters' dreams must be commended. Your 'whatever it takes' attitude was always apparent in the long hours along with the daily struggles that pop up. Attitude is everything. Crossing that open river on a snow machine definitely falls under the category of 'whatever it takes!' We'll hunt again soon.

I was just thinking back to my Dall Sheep Bow Hunt I did this past July. What a great time I had with Dustin. I took a great Ram and had several good Rams to choose from. We made a plan to go after the smaller group (3 Rams). The other group had seven Rams. So Dustin got us to were we needed to be, 35 yards and I made a good shot. Dustin always gives 110 percent to all his hunters. He is a great bow hunter himself and gets the job done. When it comes to rifle hunting that makes it a lot easier for a client, knowing he can get you where you need to be with a bow or rifle. Dustin's success rate tells you how hard he works for you. 39 - 40 sheep hunters he has guided got sheep, that's quite an accomplishment. That will impress most hunters. I just wanted to thank you again Dustin for all your hard work and bow hunting memories we made and hopefully more to come soon.

We have all heard about the "hunt of a lifetime." Well I have been on those hunts and yet to find one. But I can truly say this is it. If you can only go on one or looking for that true once in a lifetime hunt you will not go wrong with Dustin. He was as promised, Dustin and his wife made me fill like I was family. This was my 4th sheep hunt, it was the hardest, most rewarding and the one I will remember for the rest of my life. After the harvest I found out more about Dustin then the time I spent with him on the mountain. A lot of outfitters save those real trophies for friends and family, not Dustin, his top goal was to find me the largest sheep on the mountain.

I met Dustin at the Western Hunting and Conservation show in Salt lake, I wanted to book a hard core backpack sheep hunt and Backcountry BC and Beyond was exactly what I was looking for. On only day three of my hunt I took a great Stone Sheep Ram. I didn’t want to go home just yet so after my quick success in the Yukon we moved areas to BC. Dustin ,Shawn and I went on another hunt for Stone, this time for Shawn one of Dustin’s guides. On day three of this trip Shawn took a nice 10-1/2 year old ram also, and two days after that Dustin took a nice Goat with his bow. These guys can hunt. After this hunt I will be planning a near future Dall Sheep hunt with Dustin.

Dusty, Just wanted to let you know how much I appreciated your professionalism and effort on my Bighorn hunt this past October (2010) with Backcountry BC and Beyond. The hunt was all I expected. A tough backpack hunt for a 54 year old from the Mississippi River Delta in Arkansas. At times, a real "ball buster". Having over 50 lbs. on my back and climbing everyday was a challenge. A wonderful experience, exactly what I was hoping for. Making a statement like that is why my wife thinks we're crazy!!! We saw 32 rams and well over 100 sheep. Toward the end of the hunt it was obviously bothering you we hadn't found a legal ram. I want you to know, it matters that you care! We did all we could. No rock unturned. I look forward to climbing more mountains with you and Matt. I'll be the one bring up the rear but always makes it to the top. Mostly I want You and Matt to know I'm most grateful for having found 2 new friends.

Dear Big Game Hunters.... My son, Jeremy , and I have been on two sheep hunts with Dustin Roe . One of the hunts was in the NWT for Dall Sheep and the other was in the Yukon for Stone Sheep. We were both successful on each hunt, thanks to Dustin. My Stone sheep was a real trophy with the largest bases coming out of the Yukon since 1994 and a B&C score of 169 5/8 after the required 60 day drying time. Dustin is 100 % dedicated to his profession and he thinks of everything to make your hunt one of a lifetime. He offers encouragement when things are tough and will celebrate with you when you are successful. It was only through his devotion and dedication that we were so successful on these hunts. We wouldn't think of using anyone else for an outfitter. Ray and Jeremy Rogers Summersville, West Virginia (Pictures below)

Hi, I am Sara Brandenburg. I am fifteen years old, and I have completed my first sheep hunt with Dustin, and I am going on another adventure with him in nine days, for my Desert Sheep in Mexico.
I am on a quest for my North American Grand Slam. I got my Dall Sheep in Alaska this September with another outfitter, and I picked Dustin to be my guide for my Big Horn Sheep. Our next hunt is in January for my Desert Sheep, and our fourth and final hunt will be in August, for my Stone Sheep. Dustin will be my guide of choice for these three hunts.
Dustin, Kent, Dad, and I were on a adventure for a Rocky Mountain Big Horn in British Columbia. It was a ten day backpack hunt, in October. While we were hiking into camp, Dustin kept me entertained and encouraged all the way! The next morning we awoke to fog, and to our dismay it was foggy for the next three straight days. But that did not stop Dustin!
He kept looking for signs of sunshine, and sheep. In the meantime, he told me stories and kept my spirits high. At the very end of the fourth day, we spotted three rams, and decided no matter what, we were going after them! Early on the fifth day, we went after those rams, to see if one was legal in size. The entire way Dustin kept me motivated; he taught me to never give up, and to always push myself. Well, I am sure glad that he did, my reward was a full curl ram!
Dustin is a terrific guide, and I highly, highly recommend him! He is one of those people when you first meet him, you can't help but to like him. He's a good guide because he tends to all of your needs. He really does care about all of your necessities. He's tough, knowledgeable, determined, patient, caring, devoted, and most importantly, he's awesome! Dustin helped me not to get discouraged by the weather, and things that were out of our control. We were well prepared for our hunt, thanks to Dustin's organization.
Not only were we well prepared, but Dustin took some outstanding photographs of my hunt, and up-close video of my shot as well! 100% AWESOME! That's why I've chosen Dustin to guide my next 2 hunts! Good times, man!

Many guides, have slogans which they never live up to, but for Dustin Roe , he fulfills his by literally "doing what it takes" and goes above and beyond. Most male guides don't know how to act when their client is female, five feet tall, one hundred pounds (before the trip), and fifteen years old. Dustin did not judge, but instead encouraged me every step of the way to pursue my dream.
My second hunt with Dustin Roe was in Loretto, Mexico, Desert Sheep hunting. The weather was unlike anything I had ever experienced. Instead of putting on more layers, I was shedding them as fast as I could. Although, the weather was different, it was not unbearable, besides we were hunting sheep, I had nothing to complain about.
Day two found all of us eating lunch and getting hydrated, after the long hike. While I was catching up on my homework, Dustin was running around, spotting sheep, when finally he spotted my ram. Although the language barrier was difficult, Dustin informed our Mexican guides that there was a ram just three hundred and fifty yards away. I was finishing up my algebra problem, Dustin motioned me to grab my .260 Remington and follow Juan, our lead guide. We ran up the mountain, dodging cactus, thorny bushes, and boulders, when we reached two hundred fifty yards. While Juan and my dad were getting a better look at the ram, Dustin and I were getting ready. We were in the midst of getting steady, when my ram stood up, perfectly broadside. I placed my crosshairs right behind his shoulder and gently squeezed the trigger! My 140 grain bullet went right through the ram, causing dust. Just when we all thought I shot right over his back, Dustin told me to reload and stay on him, once again believing in me. Thirty yards later, my ram collapsed. I then became a three quarter slammer! After a few "atta girls" we headed towards my ram to find out he was 10 1/2 years old, and heavy broomed. The next day, we hiked five miles, in the heat of the day, ninety degrees. But like all hunters do, we sacrifice everything for our prize, mine just happened to be a Desert Bighorn. Dustin Roe, is the best guide I have ever hunted with. Not only does he encourage, he also is helpful in every way. He lends his gear when needed, and most importantly the hunter comes first, which is how it is supposed to be. Thank you Dustin, for such a memorable hunt!

While most sophomores in high school were buying school supplies for the upcoming school year, I was headed to the Yukon in quest of a Stone Sheep, to complete my Grand Slam. We picked my guide to be Dustin Roe, once again. We knew we would get the job done, with Backcountry BC and Beyond.
The next morning we were greeted to a very early alarm, grabbed some breakfast and headed for Lappie Lake. Four hours later we arrived at Lappie, and to everyone's amazement, only one incident of car sickness. (Lucky enough for Dustin, I missed his lap, this time. In Mexico, Dustin's lap = direct shot)
Dustin carefully examined his maps, picked a spot to tackle the mountain, and by the grace of God, we found a trail, our hike was filled with the beautiful lush country of the Yukon, absolutely breath taking, with virtually no sigh of man, except the horse trail we were on.
Finally, a few days of hunting we hadn't spotted my ram, until Dustin came running down the hill to tell me he just saw "a TOAD" and we were going after him. Just as we were figuring out a plan, the sheep spotted us and started to hightail it out of there. Dustin, being the smartest out of all of us, kept our spirits high, and decided to get on top of the mountains to see if we could spot them, or any others. Luckily, Shawn (our assistant guide) spotted them, almost in the exact same place they were before! We all literally ran down the mountain towards camp, to empty our packs and hustle towards the sheep. With three hours left of shooting light, we hiked as fast as we could. Finally we reached nine hundred yards away, and spotted the rams. Dustin thought he could get us a bit closer. Yet instead of walking on the nice grassy side of the mountain, he suggested we cross over into the cliffs. Yes, vertical cliffs! As Dad and I contemplated the cliffs, he made the comment, "Don't worry Sara, if you fall you'll roll at least half a mile. It's not the fall you have to worry about, it's the landing." After twenty minutes of 'hands and knees' crawling and wanting to close my eyes, I discovered we made it to within 350 yards. I got ready. Positioned my now 93 pound body on some jagged rocky, and waited for my ram to come into my crosshairs. After six or seven minutes of waiting, which seemed like forever, I saw the "TOAD" Dustin had spotted. Bigger then I could remember, I tried to concentrate, not on his head gear, but on where to put my crosshairs. After thirty seconds of squirreling around, the Toad turned broadside and gave me his left shoulder. I gently squeezed my trigger--"BOOM" Not only had I just completed my Grand Slam, and shattered a world record by becoming the youngest female in the world to do it, I also took a forty one inch sheep off the mountain.
Thank you, Dustin Roe , for three unbelievable trips, thank you for truly "doing what it takes"! To all serious sheep hunters: if you want an unbelievable guide who honestly knows what he is doing, call Dustin Roe . He will not disappoint you.

We met Dustin Roe in May, 2007. He assisted with taking two huge grizzly bears. A dad-daughter combination in which our daughter, Katey shot a record book grizzly 24 5/8 inch skull. Dustin convinced me to hunt bighorn sheep with him later that year. He got the buckle for the largest sheep taken in British Columbia that year. A beautiful 177 ram. What followed was a super-human effort on Dustin's part. His pack was heavier than his own body weight. My pack was stuffed too, and we had 9 1/2 miles to hike out. No trail, deadfalls, cliffs, swamps, but we had a heck of a ram, and we each had a big smile. We sheep hunters are a strange bunch. Dustin has incredible eyes, and he is tenacious. He is small in stature but huge in heart, and ability. I have recommended him to other hunters on numerous occasions and he has always delivered. He has a knack for finding animals and in our situation, he has a knack for finding record book animals. Our 15 year old daughter recently took a dandy bighorn ram in October 2009. Dustin has organized and will participate in three out of the four sheep hunts for Sara Rose to obtain her Grand Slam. Dustin will help her become the youngest woman in the world to get her Grand Slam. He enjoys what he is doing, and he is good at it.
Great Memories, -Rod Brandenburg (Picture below)

"As a Television Show Host on Outdoor Channel, I have been afforded the opportunity to hunt with a variety of Mountain Guides across the US and Canada. Without exception, Dustin Roe is the most motivated, hard working and talented guide I've ever hunted with! He understands what it takes to get the job done under extreme conditions. I would be confident in Dustin's guiding abilities no matter what species of animal I chose to pursue!" Joe Thomas Outdoor Channel TV Host (Picture below)

“Don’t let Dustin’s small stature fool you. Pound for pound, I guarantee you he is one of the toughest and hardest working guides in the business. You won’t find another guide who wants his clients to succeed more than Dustin Roe!” Matt Comment Pennsylvania (Picture below)

“Just wanted to drop you a line and tell you how much I enjoyed hunting with you. One of my greatest fears when going on a guided hunt is my fear of ending up assigned to a guide that I don’t like, or one that is not willing to hunt hard with me. Five minutes after meeting you I knew I was with the right guide. From the moment we stepped off the charter flight your positive attitude grabbed me and made me feel comfortable. I just knew we were going to get our chance if we stayed with you and listened to your directions. Your attention to detail, enthusiasm, and determination, along with your positive personality, helped us have a great hunt. I never saw in your face, or in the way you acted, one ounce of negativity. It seemed you were always saying, “We’ll go up this canyon and there will be a huge bull there for you.” Or, “Let’s build a fire and dry out and then we’ll kill our bull”. Every time we stopped and took a break you were glassing, looking, hoping to find that big bull. You never gave up and in the end you made it all happen! Part of the fun of going on a hunt like this is all the planning that has to take place. I know we called you, emailed you, and just plain bothered you more than most hunters, but you never seemed to mind, in fact you encouraged the questions and made it fun to communicate with you. This actually added to the excitement of the hunt. We simply couldn’t wait to leave on the hunt and meet you. I have to tell you I was at first worried about your age. I couldn’t understand how a guide so young could handle us “mature” guys, but you certainly did. I have always felt I could keep up with most guys and prided myself in being able to walk, climb, and hunt with the best of them. Well, I’m here to say you can walk and hunt me into the ground. The good thing is you never did. You set the pace on my terms without having to stop and ask me and I appreciated that. After a couple days I knew you could walk me into the ground if you wanted to, but you never made me feel uncomfortable. I think the best part of hunting with you is your personality. You were just plain fun to be with. To me the hunt isn’t just about killing an animal, it is about the experience you have. Do you enjoy the people you are with, are you laughing, eating well, seeing pretty country, just having fun. With you from the very beginning we were like old friends. Even today at least once a day I use your line, “toughen up cupcake” and it makes me laugh. These are memories that last a lifetime. Last but certainly not least, you took us to an area with tons of quality animals and gave Joe and I the chance to harvest great bulls. This was because of you, your research, and advanced scouting. This all goes into the making of a great hunt. You made a great hunt for us, and for that we are indebted to you. In the future, should you need to use my name for a reference please feel free to do so, it would be my privilege to speak to anyone about you and your operation, we are after all now friends!!!! Sincerely Gerry Addison (Picture below)

After hosting the "Explorers Big Game Journal” television program for the past 6 years I have had the opportunity to hunt with a pile of outfitters and their guides. I really do my homework and almost all of them have turned out great. However every once in a while you come across one who is a cut above the rest and that one is Dustin Roe. I had the pleasure of hunting Stone Sheep with Dustin and what a professional he turned out to be. Out of all the outstanding qualities as a guide he possessed I found that his desire for his client to harvest a truly spectacular animal out weighed them all. From the minute we got off the plane Dustin was consumed with making sure that we were successful. Whether it was insisting we spent enough time glassing an area or pushing us to our limit to insure we made it to the top of a ridge for a better look he never missed a beat. It is my recommendation that if you are looking for someone to hunt with that will give it all he's got to see that you hang a trophy on your wall then take it from me, a guy who hunts for a living, you better make sure you book a hunt with Dustin. Just wanted to let you know how much I enjoyed hunting with you, what a great experience it was fulfilling my dream to hunt and harvest a Bison. I have been highly recommending your hunt to all my friends since getting home, some of these friends will no doubt be hunting with you in the next couple of years. This is one of those hunts I would love to do that hunt every year, the country was gorgeous, there was plenty of animals and you run a first class hunt. A bonus was how good the Bison meat is, it is some of the best wild meat I have ever had so I am glad we decided to drive up in order to bring it all home. My Bison officially scored 117 0/8” which places it at #5 in current P&Y records, this was just icing on one of the best hunts I have ever been on.

Dustin,
Your idea of guiding hunts for different species, anywhere and everywhere for your clients sounds like a heck of a good idea. I had a great time Bighorn hunting with you. The Ram on the wall reminds me everyday! As I told you during the hunt…. it’s my vacation. I want to harvest a nice animal, but I want to have a good time. I’m willing to work hard and put in the effort and you certainly put that to the test. I’ve recommended you to several people who are serious about hunting. I’m willing to put my name on the line recommending you because of the way you handled yourself. Intelligent, diligent, hard working, and fun are some of the words I used to describe your demeanor.
Good luck with your new venture, and I’ll be calling you down the line to book another hunt…….. somewhere.

My brother Cy went on a successful stone sheep hunt in BC. When he returned he was constantly saying Dustin this, Dustin that, Dustin, Dustin, Dustin, that’s all I kept hearing. Cy told me that I should go on a hunt with Dustin as he is an avid archery hunter like me. Hearing all of this, I had to talk to this Dustin guy. After several phone calls and emails, we came up with a game plan and a time of the year I would go and meet the so called young guiding “Superman”.
In September I arrived in base camp for my Canadian Moose hunt and finally met Dustin face to face. He has a great personality and we were off talking and discussing the game plan. Even when I got my bow out to test shoot, Dustin joined me with his bow.
To make a great long story short, Dustin lived up to and passed my expectation. He worked very hard and long and had more confidence in me than I had in myself. He never left me behind and let me set the pace. And no, Dustin cannot fly like Superman, but a bet he could hike him to death!
Dustin led me to have the very best outdoor experience I have ever had. On my first real hunting day I killed a 208 inch Gross Bull with my bow! The trip not only let me learn new hunting views and techniques, but also let me learn more about myself.
I will definitely be “Extreme hunting” with Dustin again soon!

"Having hunted many places around the world and taken the North American 28 with my bow in hand, I have had the chance to hunt with a lot of great guides. I have hunted with Dustin in BC for Bison and took a great P&Y Bull and in the Yukon twice for Stone Sheep. From my experiences with him, there is no doubt he will go the extra mile and "Do What It Takes" to make your hunt the best it could be. In 2009 he and I took an outstanding 38 ˝ inch Fannin Ram scoring near 160 at only 19 yards. The band of 5 never even knew we were there! I’d suggest If You Bow hunters want to have Multiple Bowgasams, I recommend you hunt with Dustin Roe and Backcountry BC and Beyond! Tom Hoffman - Albany , New York (Picture below)

I had the opportunity to hunt Stone Sheep with Dustin Roe completing my first Grand Slam. Although the hunt was difficult due to some tough weather and a tight time schedule, Dustin worked extra hard and remained positive despite all the adversity we encountered. Dustin is a guide that is wise beyond his years and he has an incredible positive “can do” attitude that is invaluable on any mountain hunt. I would highly recommend hunting with Dustin for any species and I very much look forward to our next hunt together.

The main thought and impression I am left with after my Bighorn hunt is that there aren't two harder working guides in the business. Sure, there are other areas with sheep and are beautifully rugged and game rich such as Backcountry BC's areas. But, I challenge you to find two guides that can or will work as hard as Dustin Roe and Kent Mckenzie. Before my hunt I noticed Dustins slogan "Do what it takes" and thought little about it. But, "Do what it takes" is what they live by - they always had a positive attitude, they will never quit or give up.

Dustin Roe of Backcountry BC and Beyond is a young hunting guide with more drive and experience of someone twice his age. I have hunted in Alaska twice for Dalls and in Northern BC for moose and many times in the lower 48 for elk and can say Dustin has a top notch operation, he gets the job done! Dustin had my Stone located the day before I arrived, an eight mile hike back into the wilderness and a tough climb up the mountain was all it took for me to get my half slam. I look forward to hunting again with Dustin for my Rocky Mountain Bighorn in the future.

" I hunted with Dustin Roe in the NWT in July 2009 for Dall sheep. He has to be one of the best bowhunting guides I have ever had the pleasure to hunt with. He had us on sheep and patterning them immediately and set me up perfectly for a shot with a bow. Dustin can pack more than most guides and took me safely through the crazy stuff. I will and am going hunting again with him due to his attitude and professionalism."
